She reads the label.

She stops at the end of the block. Turns.
...
Michel’s still out on the balcony, a vague silhouette against the rust-colored sky. He leans on the railing, cigarette burning down between his fingers.
When he notices her watching, he doesn’t wave. Just raises the cigarette slightly, like a toast. Then he crushes it flat in the tray and walks back inside.
...
The balcony light goes out.

Conrad stands there for a second longer, then pulls out her phone.
